Taking a time-out can prevent your relationship from becoming unhealthy.
Fighting, arguing, disagreements are not the problem. In fact, it should be a way of clearing the air and going forward in a healthy way. So, it’s not THAT we fight and argue, it’s HOW we fight and argue that is the problem. The Better Man Project method allows you to walk away before saying or doing something you regret, and damaging your relationship! There are four steps to a proper time-out.
You must memorize these four steps!! If at any point I ask you to recite these four steps, you must be able to recite them readily or I reserve the right to take away credit for one class.
Step One
Recognize your anger cues.
Step Two
Call “Time-Out.”
Step Three
Tell her where you are going and how long you will be back. (No more than one hour!!)
There are two very important rules here:
1. No drugs or alcohol.
2. Use positive self-talk.
Step Four
Be willing to talk with her about the problem.
